Dwayne Turner's Story
Dwayne Turner was born in Brooklyn. He started his art career in the late 1980s. At that time, he was still studying at the School of Visual Arts.
His first big jobs were at Marvel Comics. He worked on popular titles like Avengers Spotlight and Transformers. For DC Comics, he drew the Power of the Atom series in 1988.
Creating Comic Characters
Dwayne Turner helped create many cool comic book characters. In 1992, he worked with writer Marcus McLaurin to create James Lucas for Marvel Comics.
A year later, in 1993, he helped create Hulk 2099 for Marvel with writer Gerard Jones. Later, in 2001, he co-created Orpheus for DC Comics with writer Alex Simmons. In 2003, he also helped create Traci Thirteen for DC Comics with writer Joe Kelly.
Working on Popular Comics
Turner also worked on several Spawn comic books by Todd McFarlane. He had a long run drawing the spin-off series Curse of the Spawn from 1996 to 1999. He was also the main artist for volume 2 of Wildstorm's The Authority comics from 2003 to 2004.
Art in Movies and Games
In 2006, Dwayne Turner left the comic book world. He started working in the video game and movie industries. He became a storyboard illustrator for films. This means he draws pictures that show how movie scenes will look, almost like a comic book for the film.
His movie work includes Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, and The Jungle Book. He also contributed his art to famous video game series. These include the Halo games, the God of War games, and Gears of War.
