A Place Shaped by a River
Eagle Bend has an interesting history with the Mississippi River. Long ago, it was a small postal village right on the river's edge. But in 1866, the river changed its path! It cut a new, shorter route. This left behind a curved section of the old river. Over time, the ends of this old path filled with dirt. This created a beautiful lake called Eagle Lake. This type of lake is known as an "oxbow lake".
Today, Eagle Bend is located on the east shore of Eagle Lake. The lake is a popular spot for fishing and water sports.
