Warren County is a county in the state of Mississippi. It is located in the western part of Mississippi. The Mississippi River forms its western border. In 2020, about 44,722 people lived there.
The main city and county seat of Warren County is Vicksburg. The county was created on December 22, 1809. It is named after Joseph Warren, a hero from the American Revolutionary War.
Warren County is part of the Mississippi Delta. This area was famous for its large cotton farms, called plantations. Vicksburg was a very important port city on the river. Today, Warren County is part of a larger economic area that includes Jackson.

Exploring Warren County's Geography
According to government data, Warren County covers a total area of 619 square miles. About 589 square miles of this is land. The remaining 30 square miles (4.9%) is water.
The county has two parts that are only connected by a small strip of land. This narrow strip is about 500 feet wide. It lies between Madison Parish in Louisiana and Issaquena County in Mississippi. This area was once part of the Mississippi River. Now, it is an oxbow lake and marshland. No roads go through this narrow strip. The small community of Eagle Bend is located here.

The county's population is made up of different groups. In 2020, about 46.75% of people were White. About 47.61% were Black or African American. Other groups included Asian (0.81%), Native American (0.15%), and people of two or more races (2.72%). About 1.96% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.
The median age in the county was 35 years old. This means half the people were younger than 35 and half were older. For every 100 females, there were about 88 males.
