Earl Gilbert "Butch" Graves Jr. (born January 5, 1962) is an American businessman and a former basketball player. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and went to Scarsdale High School.

About Earl Graves Jr.
Earl Graves Jr. is the son of Barbara Graves and Earl G. Graves Sr., who started Black Enterprise magazine. Earl Jr. went to Yale University and later earned a special business degree called an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Harvard University.
College Basketball Star
While at Yale, Earl Graves Jr. was a very talented basketball player. He was the captain of the college basketball team. He holds the record for the most points scored in Yale men's basketball history. He is also the third highest scorer in the history of the Ivy League college sports conference.
Professional Sports Career
After college, Earl Graves Jr. was chosen by the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA (National Basketball Association) draft. He also played for a short time with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 1984–85 NBA season. Interestingly, he was also drafted by the Dallas Cowboys for American football, showing he was a great athlete in more than one sport!
Business and Leadership
Beyond sports, Earl Graves Jr. has had a successful career in business. He worked for a big financial company called Morgan Stanley. He also became the president and CEO of Earl G. Graves Publishing Company, which publishes Black Enterprise magazine. He has also served as a director for Autozone, Inc., a company that sells car parts.
In 1995, a police department publicly apologized to Mr. Graves. This apology was even printed in major newspapers like The New York Times.
In 2021, Earl Graves Jr. talked about a big challenge for African-American business owners. He explained that many Black-owned businesses are very small, often run by just one person. He believes that for these businesses to grow bigger and attract more customers, different founders and investors need to work together and combine their resources.
