Easley, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Easley is a small, quiet place in Boone County, Missouri. It's not a city or town with its own government, but rather an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that are part of the larger county area.

Easley is special because it's located right next to the mighty Missouri River and the famous Katy Trail. The Katy Trail is a very long path built on an old railroad line, popular for biking and walking.

What Happened to Easley?

Over time, Easley became very small. The last building that was still standing there, an old general store, was carefully moved. It found a new home at the Boone County Historical Society, where it was rebuilt so people could see what it looked like long ago. This helps us remember the history of places like Easley.

A Look Back at Easley's Past

Easley once had its own post office, which is where people would send and receive mail. This post office opened in 1893 and stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1951. The community was named after W. G. Easley, who was the first owner of the land where the community grew.
