The East Branch Pleasant River is a river in Maine, a state in the United States. It flows for about 32.4-mile-long (52.1 km). This river is a "tributary," which means it's a smaller river that flows into a larger one. The East Branch Pleasant River eventually joins the Piscataquis River.

Where Does the River Flow?

The East Branch Pleasant River starts in a place called Shawtown, in Piscataquis County, Maine. This area is known for its beautiful natural scenery.

From Source to Lake

The river begins its journey at its "source," which is where it starts. From there, it flows for about 19 miles (31 km) towards the southeast. It then reaches a place called Upper Ebeemee Lake.

Through the Lakes

After Upper Ebeemee Lake, the river continues its path. It flows for another 13 miles (21 km) south through Ebeemee Lake. These lakes are important parts of the river's path.

Joining Other Rivers

Finally, the East Branch Pleasant River meets up with another river called the West Branch. When these two rivers join, they form the main Pleasant River. This meeting point is in a town called Brownville.

Appalachian Trail Crossing

The famous Appalachian Trail crosses the East Branch Pleasant River. The Appalachian Trail is a very long hiking path that stretches across the eastern United States. Hikers on this trail get to see many natural wonders, including this river.
