East Carbon City is a city in Carbon County, Utah, United States. It was officially formed on January 1, 2014. This happened when two smaller cities, East Carbon and Sunnyside, decided to join together.
For a short time, the new city was called East Carbon-Sunnyside. This was a temporary name. The city council then chose a permanent name. As of January 1, 2016, the merged cities are officially known as East Carbon City. This new city includes different areas like Columbia, Dragerton, and Sunnyside.

When East Carbon and Sunnyside joined, their total population in 2010 was about 1,678 people. This number combines the 1,301 people from East Carbon and 377 people from Sunnyside at that time. By 2018, the estimated population for the merged city was around 1,475 people. The most recent census in 2020 showed the population was 1,556.
