East Rockingham is a special area in Perth, Australia. It's mostly for factories and businesses, and it's part of the City of Rockingham.

History of East Rockingham

East Rockingham started as a small farming area in the 1850s. Early settlers built homes and farms along Mandurah Road. But when a port opened in Rockingham in 1872, many people moved away.

From 1905 to 1929, the main office for the Rockingham Road Board was in East Rockingham. This was like the local government office back then.

In 1955, a big plan for Perth and Fremantle was made by Stephenson and Hepburn. This plan showed that East Rockingham was a great spot for new industries and factories. Today, you can see many businesses here. There are even plans to open more land for new companies. The Water Corporation also plans to build a water treatment plant in the area.

For a short time, between 1992 and 1996, East Rockingham was called Challenger. The area is also home to two caravan parks, where people can stay in their caravans or mobile homes.
