Hillman is a friendly suburb located south of Perth, which is the capital city of Western Australia. It's part of the City of Rockingham. Hillman is mostly a place where people live, with many homes and its own school, Hillman Primary School.
How Hillman Got Its Name
Hillman was officially created and named in 1970. It was named after a person called Alfred Hillman. He was a very important person who arrived in Western Australia in 1831. Alfred Hillman worked as a draughtsman, which means he drew plans, and also as a surveyor and explorer. He helped map out many areas, especially around Rockingham.
Changes to Hillman's Borders
Over time, the exact shape of Hillman has changed a little. On May 7, 2009, the borders between Hillman and a nearby suburb called Cooloongup were adjusted. This change was approved by the Minister for Lands. Because of this adjustment, the Rockingham Train Station became part of the suburb of Rockingham.
Nature in Hillman
A large part of Hillman, especially in its northern and eastern areas, is included in the Rockingham Lakes Regional Park. This park is a special place that helps protect important natural environments, including wetlands and unique plants and animals. It's a great spot for enjoying nature and learning about the local wildlife.
