East Sonora is a special kind of community called a census-designated place (CDP). It's located in Tuolumne County, California, in the United States. A CDP is an area that the government counts for population statistics, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does.
In 2010, about 2,266 people lived in East Sonora. This number was a bit higher than in 2000, when the population was 2,078. By 2020, the population had grown to 2,431 people.

In 2010, the population of East Sonora was 2,266 people. Most people living there were White (about 94%). A smaller number of people were of other backgrounds, including African American, Native American, and Asian. About 7% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
Most of the people (about 95%) lived in regular homes. A small number of people (about 5%) lived in places like care facilities.
There were 1,150 homes in East Sonora. About 15% of these homes had children under 18 living in them. Many homes (about 47%) had just one person living there. A large number of these single-person homes (about 34%) were people aged 65 or older. The average number of people in each home was about 1.87.

A Bit of History
It's interesting to know that even though East Sonora is a recognized CDP, you won't find many signs pointing to it. Many people who live there simply say they are from Sonora, California, which is a nearby city. People from Sonora in the 21st century are often called Sonorans. In the 1800s, they were sometimes called Sonorians.
