Meet Ed: The Baseball Chimp Movie
This movie tells the story of a special friendship. It's about a young baseball player and a chimpanzee who plays baseball too! The film was released on March 15, 1996. It's a comedy that shows how teamwork and friendship can lead to success.
The Story of Jack and Ed
The movie starts in Santa Rosa, California. A farm boy named Jack "Deuce" Cooper (Matt LeBlanc) tries out for a minor league baseball team. He has an incredibly strong arm, which helps him join the Santa Rosa Rockets.
Jack gets a big surprise when he meets his new roommate. It's a chimpanzee named Ed! Ed isn't just a roommate; he's also going to be a teammate. They move into an apartment together.
New Friends and Big Games
Jack soon becomes friends with his neighbor, Lydia. Ed also gets very close with Lydia's daughter, Elizabeth. As Jack and Ed play together, their skills on the field get much better. The team starts winning a lot of games. They even become strong contenders for the league championship!
Jack's coach, Chubb, believes Jack can become a great player in MLB. But then, something unexpected happens. The team owners decide to sell Ed for money.
A Chimp in Trouble
Jack is very upset about Ed being sold. He decides to find his best friend. Jack discovers Ed being treated badly by some people. He quickly saves Ed from them.
However, Ed accidentally gets stuck in a very cold truck full of frozen bananas. He almost freezes! Ed ends up in the hospital right before the final game of the season. Jack worries if he can play without his best friend.
The Championship Game
Jack starts the final game, but he struggles at first. He misses Ed a lot. Then, Ed, Elizabeth, and Lydia arrive at the game! Seeing them gives Jack new energy. He starts playing incredibly well.
Thanks to Jack's amazing play, the Rockets win the championship! After the big win, Jack, Ed, Lydia, and Elizabeth become like a family. They live happily ever after.
