James O'Heir (born February 4, 1962) is an American actor and comedian. He is famous for playing Jerry Gergich on the TV show Parks and Recreation.
Jim O'Heir started his acting career in Chicago in the late 1980s. He was part of a comedy group called "White Noise." He also appeared in many TV shows like Friends, Boston Legal, and ER.

Jim O'Heir was born in Blue Island, Illinois. He grew up in a nearby town called Lansing, Illinois. He went to Thornton Fractional South High School and then studied at Loyola University Chicago.
His Acting Journey
Starting in Theatre
Jim O'Heir began his acting in Chicago theatre. He trained in improv comedy at a famous place called The Second City. He was also a member of "White Noise," a comedy group that started in 1987. They created funny plays, sometimes with unusual humor.
In 1988, O'Heir acted in "The Book of Blanche." This play was about a woman who fell into a fantasy world through a TV screen. In 1989, he was in "The Boys Next Door." He played Norman Bulansky, a kind-hearted man who worked at a doughnut shop.
From 1990, O'Heir appeared in "Stumpy's Gang." He played Frank Bubman, a janitor who secretly put on shows with puppet experiments. Critics praised his performance, calling it "unforgettable." He also acted in "Ad-Nauseam" with White Noise.
In 2005, O'Heir played Dale Harding in the play "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." This play was performed in Hollywood.
Movies and Films
Jim O'Heir has been in several movies. He appeared in the baseball comedy Ed in 1996. He was also in the family drama Welcome to Paradise!!! in 2007. In 2016, he played Hathaway in the film Range 15.
In 2020, he joined the cast of Distancing Socially. This comedy was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic using remote technology. It was released in October 2021.

From 2000, he had a regular role in the Comedy Central series Strip Mall. He played Harvey Krudup, the husband of the main character, Tammi Tyler.
In 2003, he was a guest star on Friends in the episode "The One With the Birth Mother." He played an adoption agency worker. In 2004, he appeared in Boston Legal as a man fired from being a department store Santa.
His most famous role began in 2009 on the NBC comedy Parks and Recreation. He played Jerry Gergich, a clumsy employee who was often teased by his co-workers. Even though Jerry was in the show from the start, his character became more important in the second season. The episode "Park Safety" focused on Jerry and received good reviews for O'Heir's funny acting.
In 2011, O'Heir guest-starred on Parenthood. In 2013, he was on Good Luck Charlie and played Jack in the movie My Santa. He also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live as Toronto mayor Rob Ford. In 2016, he played Sheriff Reynolds in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
In 2017, Jim O'Heir won a Daytime Emmy award. He won for his guest role in the TV show The Bold and the Beautiful.
