Edward Adam Davis (born June 5, 1989) is an American professional basketball player. He played 11 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Ed is the son of former NBA player Terry Davis. He was picked 13th overall in the 2010 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors.

Early Basketball Years
Ed Davis started his high school basketball journey at Hanover High School. After two years, he moved to Benedictine High School in Richmond, Virginia. At Benedictine, he helped his team win two state championships. In his senior year, he averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 blocks per game.
He was chosen to play in the McDonald's All-American Game. This is a special game for the best high school players. Ed was also named Mr. Basketball of Virginia in 2008. This award goes to the top high school basketball player in Virginia. Experts like Rivals.com thought he was one of the best players in the country.
College Basketball Career
Ed Davis played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels. In his first year (2008–09), he played in every game. He averaged 6.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He also led his team with 65 blocks.
During the 2009 NCAA tournament, Ed helped the Tar Heels win the national championship. In the final game against Michigan State, he scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He was also named to the 2009 All-Freshman Team. This means he was one of the best first-year players in college basketball.
In April 2009, Ed decided to stay at North Carolina for another year. He could have entered the NBA draft then. In February 2010, he broke his wrist during a game against Duke. This injury ended his season early. He decided to enter the NBA draft in April 2010.
Professional Basketball Journey
Toronto Raptors (2010–2013)
The Toronto Raptors picked Ed Davis as the 13th overall player in the 2010 NBA draft. He signed with the Raptors in July 2010. Early in his first season, he played a short time with the Erie BayHawks. He then returned to the Raptors.
Ed made his NBA debut on December 1, 2010. He scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in that game. On April 5, 2011, he scored a career-high 22 points against the New York Knicks.
Memphis Grizzlies (2013–2014)
In January 2013, Ed was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. This was part of a big trade involving three teams. He played for the Grizzlies until June 2014.
Los Angeles Lakers (2014–2015)
Ed signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in July 2014. He played 79 games for them that season. He averaged 8.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. His season high was 20 points.
Portland Trail Blazers (2015–2018)
In July 2015, Ed joined the Portland Trail Blazers. He signed a three-year contract with them. On November 20, 2015, he had a great game with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Ten of his rebounds were offensive rebounds. This means he grabbed the ball after his team missed a shot.
In March 2017, Ed had surgery on his left shoulder. This meant he missed the rest of the 2016–17 season.
Brooklyn Nets (2018–2019)

Ed signed with the Brooklyn Nets in July 2018. He played in almost every game that season. He averaged 5.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He often had more rebounds than points.
Utah Jazz (2019–2020)
In July 2019, Ed signed with the Utah Jazz. In November 2019, he broke a bone in his left leg during a game. He was out for about a month while he recovered.
Minnesota Timberwolves (2020–2021)
In November 2020, Ed was traded to the New York Knicks. The very next day, he was traded again to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Cleveland Cavaliers (2021–2022)
Ed signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers in October 2021. He played for them during the 2021–22 season.
Mets de Guaynabo (2023)
In February 2023, Ed joined the Mets de Guaynabo. This team plays in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional league in Puerto Rico. He was released by the team in April 2023.
