Edward "Ed" Gray (born September 27, 1975) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He was chosen by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 1997 NBA draft. He was the 22nd player picked overall.

Ed Gray's College Basketball Journey

Ed Gray started his college basketball career at the University of Tennessee. After one year, he moved to the College of Southern Idaho, which is a junior college. He then transferred to the University of California, Berkeley, where he played for the California Golden Bears.

During his final year at California in 1997, Ed Gray was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year. This was a big award for him. He averaged 24.8 points per game that season, showing how good he was at scoring.

Playing in the NBA

In 1997, Ed Gray was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks. His first season with the Hawks was challenging because of injuries. These injuries made it hard for him to play consistently.

In 1999, Ed Gray was part of a trade to the Portland Trail Blazers. He was traded along with Steve Smith for Jim Jackson and Isaiah Rider. Just two months later, he was traded again to the Houston Rockets. This trade sent Scottie Pippen to the Trail Blazers. Ed Gray did not get to play for either the Trail Blazers or the Rockets.

Ed Gray's NBA career included 60 games, all with the Atlanta Hawks. He averaged 6.2 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game. After his time in the NBA, he continued to play for other teams like the Gary Steelheads and the Dakota Wizards.
