Ed Halmagyi (born February 1975), known as "Fast Ed", is a well-known Australian TV presenter, chef, and author. He also works as a photographer and radio host.

Early Life and Start in Cooking

Ed Halmagyi was born in February 1975 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. His parents were immigrants from Hungary. His father, Gabor Michael Halmagyi, was a neurologist, and his mother, Sue Halmagyi, worked to restore natural bushland. Ed has an older sister, Catherine, and a younger brother, Nicholas.

When he was just 15, Ed started his cooking journey. He began as a kitchen hand and quickly moved up to become an assistant chef. While he was still at Trinity Grammar School, he worked in different restaurants in Sydney.

After school, he started studying at Sydney University. Even with his studies, he kept working as a chef. In 1995, he traveled to the Solomon Islands to help with community projects. Later, he also became a qualified beekeeper.

TV Shows and Books

Ed Halmagyi is most famous for his role on the Seven Network TV show Better Homes and Gardens. He joined the show in 2003 and was a cast member for 20 years. He also wrote for the magazine that goes with the show. In November 2023, he announced he was leaving the show to focus on his own business.

He also hosted the travel show Discover Tasmania for three seasons. Plus, he had his own cooking show called Fast Ed's Fast Food.
