Ed Horton played one full season in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played in 45 games for the Washington Bullets during the 1989–90 season. In these games, he scored an average of 4.5 points per game.
College Basketball at Iowa
Ed Horton played college basketball at the University of Iowa. He was part of a special group of players recruited by coach George Raveling in 1985. This group included other talented players like B. J. Armstrong, Roy Marble, Les Jepsen, and Kevin Gamble. All five of these players later went on to play in the NBA.
In his final year at Iowa, during the 1988–89 season, Ed Horton was named First Team All-Big Ten. This means he was recognized as one of the best players in the Big Ten Conference.
High School Achievements
Before college, Ed Horton played basketball at Lanphier High School in Springfield, Illinois. He played alongside Kevin Gamble, who was also part of the Iowa recruiting class. In 1985, Ed Horton received the Illinois Mr. Basketball award. This award is given to the best high school basketball player in Illinois each year.
