Ed Horton played one full season in the NBA. He appeared in 45 games for the Washington Bullets. During the 1989–90 season, he averaged 4.5 points per game.
High School and College Years
Ed Horton attended Lanphier High School in Springfield, Illinois. There, he played basketball alongside Kevin Gamble, who also became a professional player.
In 1985, Horton joined the University of Iowa basketball team. He was part of a special group of recruits. This group included future NBA players like B. J. Armstrong, Roy Marble, Les Jepsen, and Kevin Gamble. All five players from this recruiting class went on to play in the NBA.
During his time at Iowa, Ed Horton was recognized for his skills. In the 1988–89 season, he was named First Team All-Big Ten. This means he was one of the best players in the Big Ten Conference.
Playing Professionally
After being drafted by the Washington Bullets, Ed Horton played for various teams. He played in the NBA and also for teams outside the United States. His career lasted from 1989 to 1997. He played for teams like Maccabi Tel Aviv B.C. in Israel and Peñarol de Mar del Plata in Argentina. He also played for several teams in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and other leagues.
