A Look Back: History of Edgerton Junction

Edgerton Junction got its name because it was an important meeting point for trains. It was a "junction" for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway. Imagine a place where different train tracks came together or crossed! This was near the town of Edgerton.

Trains were very important for travel and moving goods across the country a long time ago. Because of its location, a post office was opened in Edgerton Junction in 1899. This post office helped people send and receive mail in the area. It stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1916.
