Edimilson Fernandes' Football Journey
Starting at FC Sion
Edimilson started his football journey in the youth teams of FC Sion. He played his first professional game in the Swiss Super League on June 1, 2013. His team, Sion, won 4-2 against FC Zürich.
He scored his first goal for the senior team on March 1, 2015, in a match against FC Luzern. Edimilson played in every game for Sion during their 2015–16 Europa League season. They were eventually knocked out by Braga. Overall, he played 65 games for Sion's main team.
Playing for West Ham United
On August 25, 2016, Edimilson moved to England and signed a four-year contract with West Ham United. The transfer fee was about £5 million. He made his first appearance for West Ham on September 25, 2016, in a game against Southampton.
On October 26, 2016, Edimilson scored his first goal for West Ham. This happened in an EFL Cup match where West Ham won 2-1 against Chelsea. His manager, Slaven Bilić, praised his performance.
Loan to Fiorentina
On August 13, 2018, Edimilson went on loan to Fiorentina, an Italian club. He played for them for one year.
Time at Mainz 05

Playing for Switzerland
Under-21 National Team
Edimilson first played for the Switzerland under-21 team in March 2016. This was in a 1-1 draw against England. In his second game, on September 2, 2016, he scored his first international goal. This goal helped Switzerland win 3-0 against Kazakhstan.
Senior National Team
In November 2016, Edimilson was called up to play for the senior Switzerland squad. His first game was against the Faroe Islands, where he came on as a substitute.
In May 2019, he played in the 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals, where his team finished in fourth place. In 2021, he was part of the national team for the 2020 UEFA European Championship. In this tournament, Switzerland surprised many by reaching the quarter-finals.
