Edith Kimani is a well-known Kenyan journalist and media personality. She works for a big German news company called Deutsche Welle (DW). There, she is a news anchor and a reporter. Before this, she was a reporter in East Africa, covering stories about the environment. She also hosted a DW show called Eco@Africa. Currently, she hosts a show for young people called The 77 percent.
Growing Up and School
Edith Kimani was born and grew up in a place called Kinoo in Kiambu, Kenya. She went to Forest View Academy for primary school. Later, she moved to Westlands Primary School, where she finished her primary education. For high school, she attended State House Girls School in Nairobi.
While at State House Girls, Edith was very good at acting and drama. Because of her talent, she received a scholarship to attend Hillcrest International School. After high school, she went to the United States International University. There, she studied international relations, which is about how different countries work together.
Starting Her Career
When Edith was 19, she joined a TV show called The Presenter. This show was a talent search for young people who wanted to become journalists. It was shown on Kenya Television Network (KTN). Edith won the competition!
After winning, she got a job as a reporter and news anchor at KTN. She worked there for seven years. Then, she decided to join the German news company, Deutsche Welle. She started as a reporter in East Africa. Later, she was promoted to be a news anchor. She also began hosting The 77 percent, a show for young people.
Reporting for the World
Edith Kimani has hosted several important events. In June 2019, she hosted DW's Global Media Forum. She also hosted the 2019 World Economic Forum on Africa, which took place in South Africa. Additionally, she led a discussion at a big public meeting for the World Trade Organization in Switzerland.
