Eduard "Edi" Kainberger was a talented Austrian football player. He was born on November 20, 1911, in Salzburg, Austria. Edi sadly passed away on March 7, 1974. He was famous for playing as a goalkeeper. He played for the club SAK 1914 and also for the Austrian amateur national football team. With his national team, he achieved something amazing: he won a silver medal at the 1936 Olympic football tournament!

Edi's Football Journey

Edi Kainberger started his football career playing for SAK 1914. He played alongside his younger brother, Karl. They competed in the Salzburger football league. Edi helped his club win many titles.

He first played for the Austrian national team in 1933. This was in a match against Hungary. His biggest moment came at the 1936 Olympic Games. There, he was part of the Austrian team that won the silver medal. He played in four matches during that exciting tournament.

In 1938, Edi moved to play for TSV 1860 München. He was a very dedicated player. Edi continued to play as a goalkeeper until he was 42 years old. He played an incredible 1200 matches in his career!
