The Earl of Kincardine is a special title of nobility in Scotland. It was first created in 1647. This title is part of the Peerage of Scotland, which is a group of noble titles from Scotland. The first person to hold this title was Edward Bruce. He was the grandson of George Bruce of Carnock. George Bruce was the younger brother of the 1st Lord Kinloss.

Over time, the Earldom of Kincardine became connected with another important title, the Earl of Elgin. In 1747, Charles Bruce, who was the ninth Earl of Kincardine, also became the Earl of Elgin. Since then, these two titles have been held by the same person. The family seat, or main home, associated with these titles is Broomhall House. The family motto is Fuimus, which means "We have been".
