In 1688, he became a Fellow of Pembroke College. This meant he was a senior member of the college. The next year, in 1689, he was ordained. This means he became a priest in the church.

Edward Lany held several important jobs during his career. He served in different roles both within the church and at the university. These positions showed his influence and leadership skills.

Leading Pembroke College

From 1707 until his death, Edward Lany was the Master of Pembroke College. This was a very important leadership role. As Master, he was in charge of the college's daily operations. He also guided its academic and spiritual life.

Serving as Vice-Chancellor

Besides leading Pembroke College, Lany also served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge. He held this position from 1707 to 1708. The Vice-Chancellor is like the main leader of the entire university. This role involves overseeing all the colleges and making big decisions.

His Later Years

Edward Lany also held church positions in Salle and Chrishall. He was also a Chaplain to King William III. This meant he served as a religious advisor to the King. Edward Lany passed away on August 9, 1728, in Cambridge.
