This degree showed he had completed a good amount of study. Later, Edward Stanley married a woman named Ellen. Her father was Meredydd ap Ievan ap Robert, who lived in places like Dolwyddelan and Gwydir. Edward also had a brother-in-law named John Wynn ap Meredydd, who was also a Member of Parliament for Caernarvonshire.
