What is Lateral Thinking?
Edward de Bono came up with the term 'Lateral Thinking'. This is a way of solving problems by looking at them from new and unusual angles, instead of just following the usual steps. It's about thinking "outside the box" to find creative solutions.
He wrote 85 books, and they were translated into 46 languages. He taught his special thinking methods to governments, companies, and individuals. He also started the World Center for New Thinking in Malta. This center used his thinking tools to help solve big problems around the world.
De Bono on TV and Radio
In 1982, the BBC aired a TV series called de Bono's Thinking Course. In these shows, Dr. Edward de Bono taught people how to improve their thinking skills. He showed that thinking can get better with practice. A book with the same title was released with the series.
In 1994, he gave a special lecture on Channel 4 called "Thinking Hats On." In 1995, he made a futuristic film, 2040: Possibilities by Edward de Bono. It showed him giving a lecture in the year 2040 to people who had been frozen and then woken up.

An asteroid, 2541 Edebono, was named after him. This is a great honor!
The Edward de Bono Code Book
Edward de Bono believed that a better language could help humanity. In 2000, he published The Edward de Bono Code Book. In this book, he suggested new words based on numbers. Each number combination would stand for a useful idea or situation that doesn't have a single word yet. For example, "6/2" could mean "Give me your point of view, and I will give you mine." This code could help people understand each other better, especially during arguments.
