Evert (Eef) Brouwers (born March 9, 1939 – died October 6, 2018) was a well-known Dutch journalist. He also worked as a director-general and a spokesperson for important organizations and people.

Eef Brouwers was born in Zwolle, a city in the Netherlands, in 1939. He was an only child. He grew up in Groningen, another Dutch city, where he also went to high school. Later, he studied journalism in Zwolle.

Brouwers started his career as a journalist at a local newspaper. He then became a news presenter for different regional and national broadcasters. He worked for shows like NOS Studio Sport and the NOS Journaal, which is a major news program in the Netherlands. He was a newsreader for the NOS Journaal from 1973 to 1977.

From Journalism to Public Service

In 1983, Eef Brouwers took on a new role. He became the director of the Philips Information Service. Philips is a very large electronics company. He held this important job until 1995.

After that, from 1995 to 2004, he became the director-general of the Rijksvoorlichtingsdienst, which is the Dutch government's information service. This means he was in charge of how the government shared information with the public.

Spokesman for Important Figures

During his time at the Rijksvoorlichtingsdienst, Brouwers had a very special role. He was the main spokesman for both the Royal House (the Dutch royal family) and the Prime Minister. This meant he was the person who spoke to the media and the public on their behalf. He helped manage public questions and challenges involving members of the Royal Family during this period. Gerard van der Wulp later took over his role.

Later Roles and Honors

In 2004, Eef Brouwers used his communication skills to help the Netherlands national football team. He worked as a communication advisor for them during the European Football Championship.

After this, he joined the boards of various non-profit organizations. He also served on advisory boards for different companies.

Brouwers received several special awards for his work. He was made an officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau, which is a Dutch honor. He also received an award from Belgium, the Order of Leopold II. The town of Thorn in the Netherlands made him an honorary citizen. He was also given the Cross of Honor in the House Order of Orange, another important Dutch award.
