El Adelanto is a small town and municipality in the Jutiapa department of Guatemala. It is a place where people live and work, just like a small city or village. As of 2023, about 8,457 people call El Adelanto home.
Where is El Adelanto?
El Adelanto is located in the southeastern part of Guatemala. It is about 150 kilometers (93 miles) away from Guatemala City, which is the capital of the country. It is also 32 kilometers (20 miles) southeast of Jutiapa, which is the main city of the Jutiapa department.
The municipality of El Adelanto shares its borders with several other towns. To the north, it borders Jutiapa. To the east, you will find Yupiltepeque. To the south, it borders Zapotitlán. Finally, to the southwest, it borders Comapa. The main town within the municipality is also called El Adelanto.
Who Lives in El Adelanto?
The study of people and how they live in a place is called demographics. According to a census taken in 2018, there were 6,500 people living in El Adelanto. Out of these, 2,341 people lived in the main town area, which is about 36% of the total population.
