The history of El Casar de Talavera goes back many centuries. It was first mentioned in an important old document. This document was created in 1576 during the time of King Philip II. It helped to describe different places in Spain.
How El Casar Became Part of Talavera
El Casar was once a separate town with its own local government. However, things changed in the mid-1800s. A new law was passed in 1845. Then, a special order from the King followed in 1846.
Because of these rules, El Casar had to join with the larger town of Talavera de la Reina. This merger officially happened on December 21, 1846. From that day on, El Casar became a part of Talavera de la Reina.
Gaining Local Government
Even after joining Talavera de la Reina, El Casar kept its unique identity. On April 28, 2008, El Casar became an EATIM. This means it gained its own local administrative powers. It can now manage some of its own affairs.
