El Jannah is a popular Australian family-owned restaurant chain. It serves delicious Lebanese cuisine, which is food from Lebanon. The name "El Jannah" means "paradise" or "heaven" in Arabic.
El Jannah is famous for its special charcoal-cooked Lebanese chicken. It also has a very popular garlic sauce called toum. Many people love this sauce!
You can find El Jannah restaurants all over Sydney and Melbourne. The chain is also growing and has opened restaurants in other cities. These include Canberra, Wollongong, and Tahmoor in the Southern Highlands.
History of El Jannah
How El Jannah Started
El Jannah was started by a family, Andre and Carole Estephan. They opened their very first restaurant in 1998. This first store was in a suburb of Sydney called Granville.
Growing Popularity
Over the years, El Jannah became very popular. It gained a special group of loyal fans in Sydney. By the late 2010s and early 2020s, the chain had grown a lot. It opened more than 20 restaurants across the Sydney metropolitan area. You could also find them in the Sydney CBD and Macarthur.
Expanding to New Cities
El Jannah started to expand outside of Sydney. In April 2022, the first restaurant in Melbourne opened. It was located in the suburb of Preston. Then, in May 2023, El Jannah opened its first store in Canberra. This restaurant is in the suburb of Gungahlin. The company continues to open new locations, with 45 restaurants expected by July 2025.
