Labour and Social Justice – The Electoral Alternative (in German: Arbeit und soziale Gerechtigkeit – Die Wahlalternative), often called WASG, was a political party in Germany. It was started in 2005. People created the WASG because they wanted different ideas for how Germany should be governed. They felt the government at the time, led by the Social Democratic Party and the Green Party, wasn't doing enough for social fairness.
On June 16, 2007, the WASG joined forces with another party called The Left Party.PDS. Together, they formed a new, bigger party named The Left (Die Linke). When this merger happened, about 11,600 people were members of the WASG.
