Rose Benjamin was born in Hendon, Middlesex, England. She was the only child of Elizabeth Abadi and Alfred Benjamin. Her mother, Elizabeth, was a suffragette. This meant she actively worked for women's right to vote.

From 1927 to 1932, Rose studied at the Architectural Association. This was a very important school for architects. During her studies, she also worked for the famous architect Edwin Lutyens.

Architectural Career

Rose Benjamin started her career working from her home in Golders Green. Later, she opened her own office in London. She became known for designing three modern houses. These homes were seen as very fresh and new for their time.

One of her notable projects was No 1 Fitzroy Park in Highgate. She rebuilt this house for Dr Edith Summerskill. Dr Summerskill was a politician and a member of the Labour Party. The house was designed to reflect Dr Summerskill's modern ideas and political views.
