Elita A. Loresca (born June 28, 1977) is a well-known Filipino-American newscaster. She is famous for her work as a meteorologist, which means she forecasts the weather. Elita has worked for several TV stations across the United States. These include KGET-TV in Bakersfield, California, WSVN 7 in Miami, Florida, and KNBC in Los Angeles, California. Currently, Elita Loresca works at KTRK-TV in Houston, Texas.

Elita Loresca started her career in television behind the scenes. She worked at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. Her job involved helping to put together news scripts. She also helped with the teleprompter during news broadcasts.
Becoming a Weather Anchor
From 2001 to 2002, Elita worked at KGET-TV in Bakersfield, California. Here, she became a weather anchor for the noon news. She also helped with assigning news stories. In 2002, she moved to KGPE-TV in Fresno, California. There, she was the weather anchor for both morning and noon news.
Reporting on Hurricanes
Elita has reported on some very powerful hurricanes. When she started at WSVN in Miami in 2004, she immediately began forecasting the 2004 hurricane season. She covered Hurricane Frances. In 2005, she reported from the National Hurricane Center. This was during major storms like Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, and Hurricane Wilma.

Elita Loresca studied Broadcast Journalism at Cal State Fullerton. She also earned a special certificate in Broadcast Meteorology. This certificate came from Mississippi State University. It helped her become an expert in weather forecasting.

Elita was born in the Philippines. When she was just ten months old, her family moved to Southern California. She grew up in both downtown Los Angeles and Chino.

On September 4, 2010, Elita married Ryan Nuveman. Ryan is the brother of Stacey Nuveman, a famous Olympic gold medalist in USA Softball. Elita and Ryan welcomed their first child in September 2011.
