Elizabeth Inglis (born Desiree Mary Lucy Hawkins) was an English actress. She was born on July 10, 1913, and passed away on August 25, 2007. She was known for her role in the 1940 film The Letter. She also used the name Elizabeth Earl in some of her movies.

Early Life and Beginnings
Elizabeth Inglis was born in Colchester, Essex, England. Her birth name was Desiree Mary Lucy Hawkins. Her parents were Margaret Inglis and Alan George Hawkins.
Acting Career
Elizabeth Inglis started her acting career in 1934. Her first movie was called Borrowed Clothes.
Working with Alfred Hitchcock
In 1935, she had a small part in a famous movie by director Alfred Hitchcock. It was called The 39 Steps. She played a character named Hilary Jordan.
Stage and Television Roles
Elizabeth also acted on stage. She played the young maid Nancy in a play called Gas Light. This play was set in Victorian times. It first opened in London in December 1938.
The cast of Gas Light, including Elizabeth, later performed the play for BBC Television. This was a live TV show in 1939.
Moving to Hollywood
Later, Elizabeth Inglis moved to Hollywood, USA. There, she appeared in the 1940 film The Letter. In this movie, she played the character Adele Ainsworth. For this role, she was credited as Elizabeth Earl.
Personal Life and Family
In 1942, Elizabeth Inglis married Pat Weaver. He was an important person in American television. He was the president of NBC television from 1953 to 1955.
After she got married, Elizabeth stopped acting. She and Pat had two children. One of their children, Susan, grew up to become a very famous actress. You might know her as Sigourney Weaver.
A picture of Elizabeth Inglis was even used in a deleted scene from the movie Aliens. In that scene, her photo was shown as the older daughter of Sigourney Weaver's character, Amanda Ripley.
Elizabeth Inglis lived to be 94 years old. She passed away on August 25, 2007, in Santa Barbara, California.
