Donken

Donken is a small, unincorporated community. This means it's not a separate town with its own local government, but it's a recognized place where people live.

Elm River

The area known as Elm River was once centered around the operations of the Elm River Copper Company. It even had its own post office for a few years, from 1900 to 1907.

Lake Roland

Twin Lakes

Winona

Winona is an unincorporated community with a history tied to copper mining. A copper mine first opened here in 1864. It was started by the Winona Copper Mining Company. The mine was not very profitable at first. Later, in 1898, the Winona Copper Company took over. Winona had a post office for many years, from 1899 until 1975. After that, it became a smaller post office branch of Toivola until 1982.

Wyandotte

Wyandotte is another unincorporated community within the township. It is located at 46°53′24″N 88°52′31″W / 46.89000°N 88.87528°W / 46.89000; -88.87528 (Wyandotte).

People of Elm River Township

In 2000, there were 169 people living in Elm River Township. These people lived in 70 households, and 56 of these were families. People of all ages live in the township, from children under 18 to seniors over 65. The average age of people living here was 48 years old. Most households were made up of married couples living together.
