Where is Elmwood Located?
Elmwood is found right where two important roads meet. These roads are U.S. Route 270 and U.S. Route 412. This spot is in the Oklahoma Panhandle, which is the narrow strip of land at the very top of Oklahoma.
A Glimpse into Elmwood's Past
Elmwood's history is quite short, but it tells us a bit about how small communities grew. A post office was opened in Elmwood on January 26, 1888. Having a post office was a big deal for a small community. It meant people could send and receive mail, connecting them to the outside world. It also showed that enough people lived there to need this service.
