Elwood is a small village in Nebraska, United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Gosper County. In 2020, about 658 people lived there.

History of Elwood
Elwood was officially planned in 1885. This happened when the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad built its tracks to this spot. The village was named after Elwood Thomas, who was one of the first settlers in the area.
The Gosper County Courthouse is in Elwood. It is a special building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is an important historical site. The building was designed in the Art Deco style by architects McClure & Walker.
Geography of Elwood
Elwood is located in the state of Nebraska. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village covers about 0.55 square miles (1.43 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the village limits.
Elwood is found where two main roads meet: Nebraska Highway 23 and U.S. Route 283. These roads follow Ripley Street and Smith Street within the village. Elwood is also located south of the Elwood Reservoir, which is a body of water.

Elwood Public Schools provides education for students. They teach children from preschool all the way up to twelfth grade. The school's mascot is the Elwood Pirates.
In 2021, Elwood schools teamed up with schools from Eustis and Farnam for sports. Their combined athletic teams are now called the Hi-Line Bulls.
