Emer Jones facts for kids

Emer Jones was born in 1994. She is an Irish student from Tralee, a town in County Kerry, Ireland. Emer became well-known for her amazing achievement in science when she was just 13 years old.

Who is Emer Jones?

Emer Jones won the 44th Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in 2008. This made her the youngest person ever to win the competition at that time. It was also a special win because she was the first winner from County Kerry. Her school had never even entered the competition before that year!

Winning the Young Scientist Competition

Emer won the Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition on January 11, 2008. The event took place at the RDS in Dublin, Ireland. Her project involved examining sandbags, which helped her win the top award.

Representing Ireland in Science

After her big win in Ireland, Emer went on to represent her country. She took part in the 20th European Union Contest for Young Scientists. This international competition was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in September 2008. Later, Emer continued her studies in science. She attended Cambridge University where she studied physical natural sciences.
