Hanna Emilia Rydberg-Mitiku, known simply as Emilia, is a Swedish pop and soul singer. She was born on January 5, 1978. Emilia became famous in 1998 with her hit song "Big Big World". This song became number one on music charts in many different countries.

Emilia's Early Life and Music Journey

Emilia's father, Teshome Mitiku, was a singer from Ethiopia. Her mother, Malena Rydberg, is Swedish. When she was a student, Emilia went to the Adolf Fredrik's Music School in Stockholm, Sweden. This school is known for its music programs.

How Emilia Started Her Career

Emilia was discovered in 1996 by Lars Anderson. Lars is the son of ABBA's manager, Stig Anderson. When she first started singing, she used only her first name, Emilia. Later, she began to perform using her father's last name, Emilia Mitiku.

Joining Music Competitions

In 2009, Emilia took part in Melodifestivalen. This is a big music competition in Sweden that chooses the country's song for the Eurovision Song Contest. She sang a song called "You're My World". She did very well in her first round and went straight to the final. In the final, she finished in ninth place.

New Music and Collaborations

After Melodifestivalen, Emilia released her album My World in 2009. Her song "Teardrops" was also released to radio stations that year. She also recorded a duet with a singer named Ákos Dobrády. Their song, "Side By Side" (Szerelemre hangolva), was recorded in both Hungarian and English.

Emilia has also recorded cover songs. She made her own version of Rihanna's popular song "We Found Love". This was done during a studio session in Stockholm and shared on YouTube. On June 25, 2012, she released another single called "Lost Inside".

Joining a Group: Super Fëmmes

In 2021, Emilia joined an all-female music group called Super Fëmmes. The group includes other singers like Therese Grankvist, Denise Lopez, Mia Shotte, and Josefine Willers. In April 2022, Super Fëmmes released their first song. It was a cover of "Everybody's Free", a hit song from 1991 by Rozalla.
