Emily Dianne Azevedo, born on April 28, 1983, is an American athlete. She is famous for competing in bobsledding, a winter sport where teams race down icy tracks in a special sled. Emily started her bobsledding career in 2002. She has won several medals, including a silver and a bronze, in the mixed bobsleigh-skeleton team events at the FIBT World Championships.

Early Life and Education

Emily Azevedo grew up in Chico, California. She attended the University of California, Davis. During her time at UC-Davis, Emily was a talented track and field athlete. She specialized in the 100 m hurdles, which is a running race over obstacles.

Discovering Bobsledding

Emily found her passion for bobsledding after watching the 2006 Winter Olympics. These Olympic Games were held in Turin, Italy. Seeing the bobsledders compete inspired her to try the sport herself. Emily's family, including her parents Dr. Alan and Wendy Azevedo, and her sisters Amber, Chelsea, and Geneva, have always supported her athletic journey.

Olympic Journey

On January 16, 2010, it was announced that Emily Azevedo would join the US team for the 2010 Winter Olympics. These games took place in Vancouver, Canada. Emily competed in the two-woman bobsled event. She and her teammate finished in fifth place, a great achievement at the Olympic level.
