Emma Caroline Smith-Stanley, Countess of Derby facts for kids
Emma Caroline Smith-Stanley (born in 1805 and passed away on 26 April 1876) was known as the Countess of Derby. She was married to Edward Smith-Stanley, 14th Earl of Derby. Her husband was a very important person in British politics. He served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom three times during the middle of the 1800s.
Emma Caroline was the second daughter of Edward Bootle-Wilbraham, 1st Baron Skelmersdale. She married Edward Smith-Stanley in May 1825. Together, they had three children.

- Edward Henry Stanley, 15th Earl of Derby: He was their oldest son.
- Frederick Arthur Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby: He was their second son. Frederick became one of Canada's Governors-General. He is also famous because the Stanley Cup is named after him. The Stanley Cup is a very famous trophy in ice hockey.
- Lady Emma Charlotte Stanley: She was their only daughter. She passed away on 23 August 1928. She married Wellington Patrick Manvers Chetwynd Talbot. He was the son of Charles Chetwynd-Talbot, 2nd Earl Talbot.
