Emmet Boyle became the Governor of Nevada in 1915. He served for eight years, until 1923. As governor, he made some notable decisions.

One of his well-known actions was his strong dislike for professional boxing. In 1918, he stopped a big boxing match. He refused to let famous boxers Fred Fulton and Jess Willard fight in Nevada.
