The Empire World Towers were two very tall skyscrapers that were planned to be built in Miami, Florida in the United States. These buildings were never actually built.
The complex was going to have two towers: the Empire World Tower I and the Empire World Tower II. If they had been completed, both towers would have stood at 1,022 feet (312 meters) tall. Each tower would have had 93 stories. This would have made them the tallest buildings in Miami and even in the entire state of Florida, taller than the Panorama Tower.
Planned Height of the Towers
When the Empire World Towers were first planned, they were going to be even taller. The original idea was for them to rise 1,200 feet (366 meters) and have 106 stories.
However, in December 2007, the planned height of the towers was made shorter. They were reduced to 1,022 feet (312 meters). This change probably happened because the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had concerns. The FAA is a government group that makes sure air travel is safe. They often check if very tall buildings might get in the way of airplanes, especially near airports.
