Encarna Abad (born in 1927) is a Spanish actress.
Encarna Abad spent almost all her career acting in plays. She often played funny supporting characters.
She started acting on stage as a child in the 1930s. She learned her skills at the Perez de Leon acting school. After the Spanish Civil War, she officially began her acting career in musical theater.
She joined the acting company of Mariano Madrid. With them, she played funny parts in musicals like Windmills (1943) by Pablo Luna. She also appeared in shows like Honeymoon in Cairo (1944), The Double White (1947) with Zori, Santos and Codeso, The bear and the strawberry tree (1949), and Woman SM (1951). The last three were by Maestro Guerrero.
In the late 1950s, she continued to perform in funny musical shows. Some of these included Day and Night in Madrid (1952), Sandy Torre (1956), and Lulu Mink (1959) with Eugenia Roca. She also started acting in farces, which are plays that use silly and exaggerated humor. Examples include Beware the Paca (1951) and the boy sprouts (1951), both by Jose de Lucio.
In the early 1960s, she changed her stage name from Encarnita to Encarna. She then focused completely on comedy plays, as she was very talented at making people laugh. Some of her comedy roles included February 30 (1963) by Alfonso Paso, The Governor (1964) with Pedro Porcel and Francisco Piquer, and A serene under the bed (1970) with Carmen Maura.
In 1972, she traveled with the Tirso de Molina acting company to Germany. They performed the play Ninette and a lord of Murcia by Miguel Mihura for Spanish people living there. When she returned, she continued to act in many plays. Many of these were directed by Gustavo Perez Puig.

Encarna Abad also appeared regularly on television starting in the mid-1960s. She was part of several televised theater shows, such as Study 1.
She retired from acting in the late 1990s.
