Story Overview
The story of Enchanted Glass takes place in a made-up town called Melstone, in England. Near Melstone is an old, mysterious place called Melstone House. A young man named Andrew Hope inherits this house from his grandfather. But Melstone House isn't just any old building. It comes with a special "field-of-care." This means Andrew now has a big magical responsibility. Andrew doesn't quite understand how important this magical duty is. This misunderstanding leads to many of the exciting problems in the book.
Soon after Andrew moves in, a boy named Aidan Cain shows up. Aidan needs help and was told by his grandmother that the owner of Melstone House could assist him. Aidan is being chased by a mysterious power. It turns out to be the fairy king Oberon, who mistakenly believes Aidan is his son. Together, Andrew and Aidan must work to solve the secrets of Melstone House. They also need to learn how to control their own powerful magic.
Main Characters
Andrew Brandon Hope
Andrew is one of the main heroes of the book. He is very smart and has a special degree, so many people call him "Professor." Sometimes, Andrew can be a bit forgetful or not notice things happening around him. When he was a child, Andrew's grandfather taught him a lot about magic. But as he grew up, he forgot most of it. Even with his forgetfulness, Andrew is actually very talented and powerful with magic.
Aidan Cain
Aidan is the other main hero of the story. He is a teenager with a very strong magical gift. Aidan doesn't know who his father is, and his mother has passed away. His grandmother raised him, but she recently died. This means Aidan was about to go into foster care when he sought help at Melstone House.
Groil
Groil is a giant teenager. He grows up much slower than humans do. He is still quite young, even though Andrew is already in charge of Melstone House. Aidan Cain feels sorry for Groil because he wears old clothes that Andrew wore when he was a child. Groil becomes a very helpful friend to Aidan throughout their adventures.
Rolf
Rolf is a special kind of dog called a weredog. He follows Aidan home from Oberon's magical forest.
Jocelyn Brandon
Jocelyn Brandon was a very powerful wizard. He was also Andrew Hope's grandfather.
Oberon / Mr. Brown
Oberon is the king of the fairies. In the story, he lives among humans as Mr. Brown. He mistakenly believes that Aidan is his son, which causes many of the problems in the plot.
Tarquin O’Connor
Tarquin used to be a horse jockey. Sadly, he lost one of his legs.
Stashe
Stashe is Tarquin's daughter. She is also set to become Andrew's wife later in the story.
Mrs. Stock
Mrs. Stock is the kind housekeeper at Melstone House.
Trixie Appleby
Trixie Appleby is Mrs. Stock's sister.
Mr. Stock
Mr. Stock is the gardener who takes care of the grounds at Melstone House.
