A Long History of Entertainment
The building that is now Encore Dinner Theatre first opened in 1962. Back then, it was a movie theater called Tustin Theater. Over time, it changed owners a couple of times.
Becoming a Dinner Theater
In the 1980s, the theater became a dinner theater. This means people could eat dinner while watching a show! Elizabeth Howard owned it for many years, calling it Elizabeth Howard's Curtain Call Dinner Theater. She ran it until she retired in 2005.
After Elizabeth Howard, a group called Main Place Christian Fellowship took over. They ran the Curtain Call Dinner Theater until 2009. Then, Melissa Cook and Jeff Chamberlin became the new owners.
A Big Renovation
In 2011, the Curtain Call Dinner Theater closed for a while. It went through a huge renovation to make it new and modern. After the work was done, it reopened with its new name, Encore Dinner Theatre, later in 2011.
Featured on TV
In 2014, the Encore Dinner Theatre was even on a TV show! It appeared on an episode of Food Network's Mystery Diners. This show helps restaurants figure out what's happening behind the scenes.
A Big Makeover
When the new owners took over in 2011, they spent a lot of money to make the theater look brand new. They spent about $1.5 million on the renovation.
The lobby, which is the entrance area, was completely redone. The main show room, called the auditorium, was also rebuilt. It got new fancy lights, including chandeliers, and better stage lighting for the shows. They also added new dining furniture for everyone to enjoy their meals comfortably.
