The Encore Dinner Theatre is a special place in Tustin, California. It's a dinner theater, which means you can enjoy a meal while watching a live show! They put on all sorts of performances, like plays, funny comedy acts, and exciting musical shows. The main room, called the auditorium, can hold between 200 and 300 people. The number changes depending on the type of show. This theater has had a few different names over the years. It got its current name, Encore Dinner Theatre, after a big update in 2011.
History of the Theatre
This building first opened its doors in 1962. Back then, it was a movie theater called Tustin Theater. Over time, it changed owners a couple of times. In the 1980s, it became a dinner theater. A woman named Elizabeth Howard took over and ran it as Elizabeth Howard's Curtain Call Dinner Theater. She managed it until she retired in 2005.
After Elizabeth Howard, a group called Main Place Christian Fellowship took over the Curtain Call Dinner Theater. They ran it until 2009. Then, Melissa Cook and Jeff Chamberlin became the new owners. In 2011, the Curtain Call Dinner Theater closed down for a while. It was empty during a big renovation project. The very first show at the newly named Encore Dinner Theatre happened later in 2011. In 2014, the theater was even shown on a TV show! It was featured on an episode of Food Network's Mystery Diners.
Big Renovation in 2011
When the ownership changed in 2011, the theater got a huge makeover. This renovation cost about $1.5 million! The entrance area, called the lobby, was completely redone. The inside of the auditorium, where the shows happen, was also totally rebuilt. They added brand new chandeliers, which are fancy hanging lights. The stage got new lighting, making the shows look even better. Plus, there was new dining furniture for everyone to sit at while they enjoyed their meals and the performance.
