Enid May Meredith Peate (born Cartwright) was a talented English artist and craftswoman. She lived from 1883 to 1954. Enid was known for making beautiful art and crafts, especially using brass and leather.

Enid Peate's Life Story

Enid Peate was born in Willesden, a part of London. Her father worked as an accountant. Enid loved art and studied at the Willesden School of Art and the Oswestry School of Art.

She became a qualified art teacher. While teaching, she also created many artworks. She made lovely watercolour paintings and detailed embroidery. Enid was also very skilled at making craft pieces from brass and leather.

Enid showed her art in several places. She exhibited her work at the Liverpool Academy of Arts and with the Liver Sketching Club. Her art was also displayed at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. You can still find examples of her work there today!

In 1915, Enid married Arthur Peate. He was a flour miller from Oswestry. Enid and Arthur had three children together. Later, they lived in Porthmadog in Caernarfonshire.
