Enrique Floriano Millan (born October 9, 1982) is a famous swimmer from Spain. He was born in Lorca, Murcia. Enrique has a vision impairment, which means he cannot see perfectly. He is classified as a S12 swimmer, which is a category for athletes with a certain level of vision loss. He has won many medals in major swimming competitions, including the Paralympic Games.

Enrique Floriano comes from the Extremadura region of Spain. Because he has a vision impairment, he has received support to find jobs. This help came from programs like the Employment HPOD PROAD Program, which is supported by an organization called ONCE. In October 2013, Enrique was given a special award. Paralympic Games Achievements

Enrique has competed in several Paralympic Games. These are major international sports events for athletes with disabilities.

  • At the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia, he won two gold medals. He won in the 400 meter freestyle and the 200 meter individual medley. He also earned a silver medal in the 100 meter backstroke. Plus, he won a bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter medley relay race.
  • At the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece, he won two silver medals. Both were in the 400 meter freestyle race.
  • He competed at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. There, he won a bronze medal in the 400 meter freestyle race.
  • At the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, England, he won another silver medal. This was also in the 400 meter freestyle race.

  • At the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships in Eindhoven, he won two silver medals. One was in the 5km open water swim. The other was in the 4x100m freestyle relay.
  • In 2010, he also swam at the Tenerife International Open.
  • He raced at the 2011 IPC European Swimming Championships in Berlin, Germany. He finished among the top three swimmers in his races twice. He even finished first in the 5 km open water swim.
  • At the 2009 IPC Swimming World Championships 25 m in Rio de Janeiro, he won four silver medals. These were in the 400m freestyle, 200m individual medley, 4x100m freestyle relay, and 4x100m medley relay.
  • At the 2009 IPC Swimming European Championships in Reykjavik, he won two silver medals. These were in the 100m breaststroke and 400m freestyle.

Training for Competitions

Before the 2012 London Paralympics, Enrique trained very hard. He joined a national vision impaired swim team training camp. This camp was held at the High Performance Centre of Sant Cugat. It lasted from August 6 to August 23. During the camp, he had two swimming training sessions each day. He also had one training session out of the water.
