Working as a Police Officer
For five years, he worked as a police officer. He was part of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). He served in the communities of Baker Lake and Cambridge Bay.

He was also the Assistant Manager of the Kikertak Co-op in Gjoa Haven. A Co-op is a business owned and run by its members. He also served on the board of the Gjoa Haven Co-op and the local Hunters and Trappers Association. This group helps hunters and trappers in the area.
From 1995 to 1999, he was the Planning and Land Administrator for Gjoa Haven. This role involved planning how land was used in the community. He also worked as a Lands Officer for the Kivalliq Inuit Association. This was in Cambridge Bay and Kugluktuk.
Political Journey
In 2008, Enuk Pauloosie decided to run in the Nunavut election. He ran to represent the Nattilik area.

During his campaign, he talked about important issues. These included housing, education, and economic growth. He also wanted to make sure that more Inuit traditional values were taught in schools. Other topics he focused on were local community issues and tourism.
In the election, 663 people voted. Pauloosie received 229 votes, which was about 34.5% of all votes. This was 32 votes more than the next candidate, Jeannie Kanayuk Ugyuk.
Time in the Legislative Assembly
In June 2009, Mr. Pauloosie was temporarily suspended from the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. This meant he could not attend meetings or get paid for a while. The reason was that he had been absent from committee meetings without a good explanation. The other members of the Assembly agreed to this suspension. He returned to his seat in the fall session.
In November 2009, Pauloosie asked the Government of Nunavut to stop its employees from flying with Air Canada. He wanted them to support northern airlines instead, like First Air and Canadian North.
