The Epcor Tower is a very tall office building in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It has two cool spires on top, each with four flagpoles. For a few years, from 2011 to 2017, it was the tallest building in Edmonton when you counted its spires!
This tower was the first big project built in the area known as Station Lands. Many different companies have their offices here. Some of these include EPCOR Utilities, Capital Power, Ernst & Young, Intuit, and a video game company called BioWare.

Building History
How the Tower Started
The idea for the Epcor Tower began in May 2007. A company called EPCOR Utilities needed a lot of office space for its 1,100 employees in downtown Edmonton. They asked different building companies to suggest ideas for a new office building.
On December 7, 2007, EPCOR chose a company called Qualico to build their new office tower. It would be located near the CN Tower. EPCOR agreed to rent space in the tower for 20 years, with a chance to renew for another 15 years.
Green Building Design
The Epcor Tower was designed to be very energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. It earned a "silver" rating or higher under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. LEED is a popular way to show that a building saves energy, water, and other resources.
When the Epcor Tower was finished, it was the first new office tower built in Edmonton in 17 years! Because EPCOR Utilities, a power company, was the main tenant, some people started calling the building the "Power Tower."
Construction and Completion
Building the Epcor Tower began in the spring of 2008. It took about three years to complete, with the tower officially finished in 2011.
In April 2008, the city of Edmonton decided to do something smart. They approved $45 million to build an underground part of the future Metro LRT line (a train system) right beneath the tower's parking garage. They did this at the same time the tower was being built. This clever plan saved the city about $140 million! The rest of the Metro Line was built later and opened in September 2015.
