Ephraïm Inoni was an important politician from Cameroon. He was born on August 16, 1947. He served as the Prime Minister of Cameroon from 2004 to 2009. He was a close helper to President Paul Biya and was a member of the ruling political party, the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (RDPC). He became Prime Minister on December 8, 2004.

A Look at His Career
Early Life and Background
Ephraïm Inoni comes from the Anglophone part of Cameroon. He is a member of the Bakweri ethnic group. He was born in a village called Bakingili, which is near Limbé. This area is in the Southwest Region of Cameroon.
Working in Government
Mr. Inoni held several important financial roles early in his career. From 1981 to 1982, he was the Municipal Treasurer of Douala. Then, he worked as the treasurer for the Cameroonian Embassy in the United States from 1982 to 1984. After that, he was the Director of Account Balancing at the Ministry of Finance from 1984 to 1988.
He continued to rise in government. On April 9, 1992, he became the Secretary of State for Finances. Later, on November 27, 1992, he was named Deputy Secretary General to the Presidency. He held this important position until he became Prime Minister in December 2004.
Role in Politics
Ephraïm Inoni was an active member of the RDPC, the ruling political party. He was part of the Central Committee of the RDPC. He also played a key role in President Biya's election campaign in 2004. He led the campaign's support committee in the Southwest Province.
Becoming Prime Minister
President Paul Biya chose Ephraïm Inoni to be the Prime Minister of Cameroon. He took office on December 8, 2004. As Prime Minister, he was responsible for leading the government and helping the President manage the country.
Leaving Office
On June 30, 2009, President Biya changed his government. He removed Inoni from his position as Prime Minister. Another Anglophone politician, Philemon Yang, took his place. This was a big change in the government.
President Biya announced that several ministers were replaced. While no official reason was given, some believed it was due to public concerns about rising food prices. It was also thought to be part of efforts to gain more support for the next presidential election.
Later Developments
After leaving office, Ephraïm Inoni faced questions about a past event. This involved the purchase of a presidential aircraft in 2003. He was no longer involved in public life after these events.
