The Equitable Trust Building is a really old and important building in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. People also call it the Broad and Locust Building. It's a tall building, known as a skyscraper, located at 1405 Locust Street.
About the Building
This impressive building stands just a few blocks south of Philadelphia City Hall. It was designed by a famous architect named Horace Trumbauer. He finished designing this 21-story building in 1925.
Trumbauer had actually designed a similar-looking apartment building before this one. It was called the Chateau Crillon Apartment House near Rittenhouse Square. He designed both buildings for the same person, Louis Cahan. Cahan owned the Equitable Trust Company.
A Historic Landmark
Because of its special history and design, the Equitable Trust Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 3, 1986. This means it's recognized as an important historical place in the United States.
